Is wet cleaning the same as dry cleaning?
No — they’re two different processes. Traditional dry cleaning uses chemical solvents to dissolve soils from fabric. Wet cleaning uses precision-controlled water and biodegradable detergents. At Orchid, we offer both, and our team will recommend the best method for your specific garment.
Can wet cleaning damage my clothes?
Not when done with professional-grade equipment. Orchid uses Miele Professional WetCare® machines, which are specifically engineered to clean delicate fabrics without agitation damage. The precision drum controls and custom programs for each fabric type make it significantly safer than household washing.
What does 'dry clean only' actually mean?
Is wet cleaning safe for silk and cashmere?
Yes — silk and cashmere are among the fabrics that benefit most from wet cleaning. The Miele Honeycomb Drum™ allows these delicate fibers to float on a thin film of water rather than rubbing against a drum surface, which prevents the pilling, shrinkage, and dulling that can occur with improper cleaning.
How is Miele wet cleaning different from regular wet cleaning?
Miele Professional invented the wet cleaning process in 1991, and their WetCare® system remains the industry standard. The key difference is precision — Miele machines use patented drum technology, individually programmed cycles per fabric type, and residual moisture-controlled drying. Most cleaners offering ‘wet cleaning’ are using consumer-grade equipment that can’t replicate these results.
